Zack Meyer Kicks of 2014 at St. Petersburg 100
St. Petersburg, Fla. – The wait is over: After a long off-season, Canadian racer Zack Meyer is prepared to ditch testing and go racing in his #2 TMR/DAMIS PARTNERS III/Innisfil Indy Karting/Xtreme Coil Drilling car for the first time in 2014. Meyer, the 21-year-old from Innisfil, Ontario, is ready and raring to go for his rookie season as the only Canadian in Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires competition.
Meyer, who just two years ago made his formula car racing debut in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, moves up to Indy Lights this season after a promising sophomore campaign in Pro Mazda with JDC MotorSports. Meyer posted two top-five finishes in 2013 Pro Mazda competition on his way to sixth place in the championship, the highest-placed of the three JDC MotorSports drivers in the championship.
After setting competitive times during four days of Cooper Tires WinterFest testing, the outlook is promising for Meyer and his Team Moore Racing crew. “We were able to make good progress during the WinterFest tests, so I’m confident heading to St. Pete that we can be competitive,” Meyer explained. “I’m ready to get back on track and get out there and race. We just came from a test in Sebring where we were pretty quick, so it looks promising. Now we just need to get some results and start the year off strong. It should be an amazing 2014 season with Team Moore Racing.”
The 21-year-old will have two practice sessions, qualifying, and the 45-lap St. Petersburg 100 on his plate for the weekend. The St. Petersburg 100 is slated to take the green flag immediately prior to the Verizon IndyCar Series Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg at 12:47 p.m. EDT. The television broadcast of the race will air on NBC Sports Network on April 4 at 4 p.m. EDT.
